NAGLREP to Host First Ever LGBT-Centric Real Estate Conference This Fall

Association Chooses Gay-Friendly Fort Lauderdale for its October 14-16 Inaugural Event

The National Association of Gay and Lesbian Real Estate Professionals (NAGLREP) has announced that it will host the 2014 National LGBT Real Estate Conference on October 14-16 at the Embassy Suites 17th Street Causeway in Fort Lauderdale. This is the first national business and networking forum of its kind dedicated to the LGBT real estate market and promoting homeownership in the lesbian, Gay, bisexual and transgender community.

The 700-member association with 35 chapters nationwide, which was launched in 2007 by founder Jeff Berger, is a mission-driven trade group that combines business and advocacy for equality to advance homeownership in the LGBT community. The fall conference is expected to draw leading experts on the LGBT market, nationally recognized trainers, housing and real estate executives and about 400 top-producing LGBT and gay friendly real estate professionals.

“The LGBT market is a prime target for housing brands that want to be on the radar with a lucrative market segment,” says NAGLREP Founder Jeff Berger.  According to Berger, the conference program will deliver a mix of LGBT market data, skills-focused breakout sessions and town-hall sessions that touch on the advocacy issues that influence and impact service to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender homebuyers and sellers.

Recent estimates place LGBT buying power at $830 billion annually, second only to the Hispanic market in buying power. “The LGBT consumer segment is a potent buying force that is a close second to the gigantic Latino market with only a fraction of the population. I believe as the climate of acceptance becomes more prevalent, Gay consumers will more readily self identify and be more visible in their buying power thereby driving these numbers up,” adds Berger.

Gay consumers are brand loyal to companies that are committed to diversity and equality says Berger who expects interest from corporate sponsors to be strong as NAGLREP becomes more visible in the industry. Conference sponsorships range between $3,000 and $30,000. For more information about the 2014 National LGBT Real Estate Conference go to http://naglrep.com/conference2014/.

  1. Too many would-be real estate agents obsess over the licensing test, then fail in their first two years because they didn't develop a plan and follow it for success in becoming a real estate agent. They passed the test, but failed to understand the business, to develop a budget and a business plan, or to learn the ropes that aren't taught or covered in the test. These are not just tips, but tools to help you to go into the business with a plan in place to be successful. Learning about the pace of the business, the costs of doing business, and getting to the right prospects is critical.
